PESTUGE Study Visit to DCU
DCU’s Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction (IICRR) recently hosted a study visit for academics from the Republic of Georgia who are interested in developing their postgraduate courses in conflict and peace studies.
The lecturers and managers from four Georgian universities are partners in the €1 m project PESTUGE which is coordinated by Dr Walt Kilroy in DCU. It is funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+ and runs for three years.
During the visit from April 13th to 19th, the lecturers took part in a round table discussion with those teaching peace and conflict in DCU, after which bilateral meetings took place. There was also a session with MA students, the International Office, Dr Mark Glynn of the Teaching Enhancement Unit, the Library, Research Support, and other relevant departments.
The Georgian universities involved are Caucasus University, Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, and Sokhumi State University. They also spent a day at the Irish School of Ecumenics in Trinity College, which is part of the consortium.
Other EU institutions taking part are Ulster University and the University of Innsbruck, who came to DCU at the same time for a project management meeting.
