IICRR lecturer Dr Gëzim Visoka launched his latest book Shaping Peace in Kosovo: The Politics of Peacebuilding and Statehood (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) at an event in Iveagh House on 21st June. The new book was launched by Brigadier General Peter O’Halloran, Assistant Chief of Staff (Support) in the Irish Defence Forces. Brigadier General O’Halloran has served multiple on overseas operations led by the UN, EU, and NATO, including in Kosovo, Chad, and Somalia. IICRR Director and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof John Doyle also spoke at the event.

Shaping Peace in Kosovo provides first local critical perspective of peacebuilding and statebuilding in post-conflict Kosovo. It offers a timely and vivid critique of international fluid interventionism and externally-imposed policies of peacebuilding and statebuilding. The book also offers a viable agenda for an emancipatory peace in Kosovo.
